First off I would like to send my condolences to the entire family of Eddie Guerrero and that includes his wife, children,
brothers and mother as well as those who were touched by Eddie. I know he is
in a better place right now, catching up with his father Gory. Eddie Guerrero…gone
but never forgotten
Now onto IWF news…
The International Wrestling Federation and River City Wrestling working together? It is true folks. The IWF is currently in negotiations with
River City Wrestling (based in San Antonio) about exchanging talent with one another. The owner of RCW, Brandon Oliver, worked a show for the IWF in January of 2003 at
IWF New Year’s Bash TV taping as a referee. He was a real nice guy and
I was hoping we’d get to book him once again for future shows but that never came to pass.
The RCW talent pool is very familiar to the IWF fans here in the valley. Some
of their prominent stars include Phantom Lord Spiro, Jacob Ladder and commentator Ray the Voice and of course Brandon Oliver
himself. How great would it be to see guys like Fast Eddie Vegas or Hotstuff
Hernandez or “One Man” Mike Dell in an IWF ring? Counter that with
our guys going to RCW like Dante, Gravestone or Avalanche Tyler. Or it would
be great for me to be a guest ring announcer for that promotion. When we’re
talking talent exchange, everyone is fair game, announcers included!
This Sunday is IWF Thankful Aggression 2005, as part of the Joe Hernandez Fight for Family Fairness Pachanga
and will be held LIVE across the street from the old Amigoland Mall in Brownsville, Texas. This should be a great show and I for one cannot wait to see it unravel. I do not have a copy of the card as of yet but when I do, I will preview every match and give my input
on what to expect.
Random Super Thoughts…
Next month at IWF Vengeance, R. Bruce Tharpe’s ban on wrestling professionally in any promotion will be lifted. Wow, it was a year ago the Colonel took him out of action. How time flies…Could we see the return of “Exciting” Eddie Perez? Rumors are running rampant that the IWF front office has made contact with the ex-IWF star about a possible
return. The last time we saw Eddie Perez in action was when the Colonel broke
his nose at IWF Halloween Horror in October of 2003. The last time I spoke to
him was two years ago at IWF event in Roma, Texas. We did commentary that night. Only time
will tell…
